Screen Resolution?

Greetings,
I'm very new to raspberry pi and this bareboat necessities os. I'm also fairly new to linux also, so please go easy on me.
I bought a raspberry pi 5 and installed bareboat on it following the guide on their website. When I use the Screen Configuration under System Tools to change the resolution of the 4k monitor I'm connected to 1920x1080 (something I can actually see) it's fine. When I re-boot though, it goes back to the 4k resolution. How do I set this permanently?
I saw on another website that the resolution can be set in the config.txt using this:
hdmi_group=1
hdmi_mode=16
I tried that also but without any luck.
I also tried setting the resolution in the cmdline.txt file described in this post: https://github.com/orgs/bareboat-necessities/discussions/405
but that didn't seem to work either. It still reverts back to 4k.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong please? Thanks!

As per documentation

For XServer resolution add into your GUI start-up script (such as openbox autostart, etc)

# Example
xrandr --output HDMI-1 --mode 640x480 --rate 60

have you tried that?

Thank you for the hint. I was able to make it work by adding a start-up script in the budgie desktop settings autostart.

And why don’t you keep your 4K resolution and just go into budgie settings and increase text scaling?

changing the resolution updated everything for me, and it seems to make the pi 5 more responsive. Thanks!
