I would argue that one of the things that makes social media sites like Facebook and Twitter easier for people to engage with is the ease of simple interactions such as "like", "thumbs up" or "heart".
While Dreamwidth doesn't support such a concept, it'd be easy enough to send comments that amount to "heart emoji", which would make sense on the web interface but which could be interpreted more fully on the mobile app.
