Help with --set command

I can't make --set command do anything upon import. None of the commands below change the genre or album type. I have to manually change everything after the import is done.

--set albumtype=Soundtrack --set genre=Soundtrack downloads/

beet import ~/shared/music/ --set genre="Indi Pop" works perfectly for me. Can you check the logs with -v flag?

This works: beet modify -a Album Name genre=Sountrack

I've tried all of the below and none of them work:

beet import Reminiscence/ --set "genre=Soundtrack"
beet import Reminiscence/ --set 'genre=Soundtrack'
beet import Reminiscence/ --set genre="Soundtrack"
beet import Reminiscence/ --set genre='Soundtrack'

Even after I tag files with Picard first (fully tagged), beet resets the tags upon import. Maybe one of the plugins that I am using overwrites the --set command?

I think the problem is the paths (the format looks wrong). Can you remove the path configuration to make sure that --set works at import?

Perhaps, but then the whole point of having paths for me is to separate soundtracks from regualr music. If I remove the paths, how would I go about mainting different music libraries?

I think he's just suggesting that you check if the files are getting tagged properly. Instead of removing paths you could just create a test folder and try importing a few with move: no in your config. Then use list to check if the tags are actually being set. If we can rule out the tags being improperly set then the problem is with your path config.
