lastgenre fetching tags that aren't on last.fm?

so if i use lastgenre on my library for all albums by bandetto, i'll get

but the issue is, neither bandetto, nor .wav slave, nor any of the tracks on that album are tagged as speedcore on last.fm, as far as i can tell. idk where it's getting speedcore from. i have even tried zeroing the genre tags on these albums and they still get tagged as speedcore after doing so. no clue what i'm missing here. if it's helpful, my config is

it tags it as chiptune, despite the fact that chiptune is not a tag present here. drone is a tag present here, but lastgenre ignores it even though i edited my canonicalization tree to add it

also, since the original post, i added a custom canonicalization tree, my apologies for not mentioning that (i edited my last reply to add that info). the canonicalization tree is the same as the default but with "drone" as a subgenre added under "drone music" (as a failed attempt to get lastgenre to read the drone tag). lmk if there's anything else i forgot lol

does last.fm not show some tags on the tags page? i don't see speedcore on last.fm. also, i still don't understand why i can't get anything but chiptune to show up on hakita's stuff

Yeah it really looks like last.fm web doesn't show everything we get via the API. Interesting.

BTW, the newest lastgenre available in dev (available on git master branch) tells you exactly which genres it received from the API and after a whitelist check:

lastgenre: existing genres taken into account: ['nu jazz', 'downtempo']

might help with further last.fm api investigations...

There is also an option min_weight: <value between 0 and 100> that is existing already in the released version. You could play around with that to alter your lastgenre plugin's results.

noted, i think that looking around in those versions is a bit above my paygrade lol.

i did end up just tinkering with my config till it gave me genre results i liked. i found some success in turning off the option to prefer specific genres, though it still isn't perfect
