It would be useful for the lyrics plugin to have a similar workflow to the main app where when it cannot find lyrics it allows submitting a custom search. There are a good number of instances where the search that is provided to lrclib does not get any results despite the lyrics existing in the database, so this would be a useful feature.

Just out of curiosity, which version of beets are you using? Or is it the most recent one on master?

beets version 2.2.0
Python version 3.12.10
plugins: chroma, convert, edit, embedart, fetchart, inline, lastgenre, mbsync, replaygain, scrub, web

Have you installed it using pip install beets or the most recent version from GitHub using pip install git+https...?

The reason I'm asking is that the lyrics plugin has been improved significantly but hasn't been released yet. On the other hand, it's available if you install beets using git+https://github.com/beetbox/beets.git.

If you try enabling the plugin, run beets -vv lyrics and paste some of the output you're seeing I can verify whether you're using the most recent version or not.
