Can't get Spotify info to populate #5864

Hey folks,

I'm guessing I'm making an obvious mistake, but I can't figure it out.

I imported my library yesterday. Now I'm trying to populate the Spotify track identifiers so that I can get the Spotify audio features. But no matter what I do I can't seem to get the Spotify tags to populate. Can anyone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?

When I run beet spotifysync it scans all of my files and nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong? Why isn't Spotify populating?

Shouldn't beet -vv import -L "Tigermilk" populate spotify_album_id?

if you tagged via musicbrainz, yes possibly (you have that feature enabled in the musicbrainz conf) but does that specific release have a spotify information? post a link to the release on musicbrainz.com please!

doesnt have a spotify url in external links section 🤷

i just added it to the musicbrainz release. try reimporting and you should get it

The test track info you posted does not have spotify_album_id populated. I think that's a requirement for spotifysync command to work.

Shouldn't beet -vv import -L "Tigermilk" populate spotify_album_id?

Also, I just learned that Spotify deprecated the audio features API. I'm working on a script to get that info from Reccobeats.

@samlfair thanks for pointing out Reccobeats.

@JOJ0 I assume this will be a separate plugin if we were to incorporate Reccobeats (to access audio features) into beets.

Shouldn't beet -vv import -L "Tigermilk" populate spotify_album_id?

if you tagged via musicbrainz, yes possibly (you have that feature enabled in the musicbrainz conf) but does that specific release have a spotify information? post a link to the release on musicbrainz.com please!

i just added it to the musicbrainz release. try reimporting and you should get it

If you have multiple metadata sources configured, please make sure that you use Spotify as the primary source. You can use More candidates to select Spotify matches if Beets defaults to MB.
