Search box doesn't respond well to window size changes

Describe the bug

All of the following screenshots are from https://briefcase.beeware.org/en/stable/.

It's possible to resize the window so that the search box isn't visible, but the full-screen search UI in the top-left menu still isn't available:

In slightly wider windows, the box is visible but both the box and the search results are cropped:
