Upcoming Events section on main page does not render on mobile

Describe the bug

The Upcoming Events (Meet the Bee Team @) section of the sidebar on the main page isn't being rendered on mobile devices.

Steps to reproduce

1. Go to beeware.org on a mobile device.
2. Scroll down to the sidebar.
3. The above-referred-to section is missing.

Expected behavior

Meet the Bee Team @ should be rendering with the upcoming events (currently EuroPython 2025) listed below. It should be rendered between Latest News and Projects.

This issue was present on the main site before it was resolved at the PyCon US 2025 sprints. It's likely the same issue is present on mobile, and that this should be a straightforward fix. See #626 for details.

Happened upon the solution to this while looking at #642.

However, once it's visible, the carousel includes all the events. I'm not sure how to dynamically remove items from a Bootstrap carousel.

How married are we to the carousel? I think it would be perfectly fine if it were displayed the same way as in the sidebar layout.

@HalfWhitt We don't want the carousel. We removed it from the main page as well, and replaced it with a static list.

Uff. I removed one instance of it when I made the changes. So, there must have been a separate one for the smaller display settings. I assume? Or did I miss something entirely...

Yep, exactly. It just wasn't being rendered because its query was different and wasn't pulling any events. I got it though!

Apologies if this response seemed like stepping beyond my place here as a contributor. This was a discussion that came up with @freakboy3742 at the PyCon US sprints, and the approval to remove the carousel was made by him at that time.
