Error message "Object must be a Date, DateTime or Time object. nil given." empty message when user sends an emptry message

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Go to Conversations
2. Click on an existing conversation
3. Scroll down to the text entry field
4. click cursor into field
5. hit the enter key or Hit Send
