Transient DNS resolution failure causes persistent notification

Every week or two, DAVx⁵ prints an error notification for me:

I presume this is because either my local DNS server failed to respond to a request (although I checked the logs, and there was nothing out of the ordinary going on at that time), or there was simply a wireless transmit error, which would cause the resolution to fail as DNS is based on UDP.

Anyway, the issue is that having a single DNS resolution failure does not necessarily indicate an actionable problem. I would prefer it if I were only informed by push notification after the app had retried a few times and was still unable to reach the server. Or, perhaps, the push notification could go away if subsequent connection attempts are successful.

Or, perhaps, the push notification could go away if subsequent connection attempts are successful.

It appears not to be, unfortunately. Subsequent successful connections do not remove the error notification.

Is it possible that the app being killed in the background causes it to lose track of the notification it had posted? GrapheneOS appears to have an issue that leads to apps being killed in the background more frequently than would otherwise be expected.
