Variable feedback from projectors

Whenever I send a command to the projector (e.g. shutter = on) the state of the pic.mute variable does not change immediately.
Would it be possible to have a more accurate feedback by incorporating the acknowledged answers from the projector or to set the refresh rate for the variables in the connection setting manually to something lower than 1 minute?
