Inline fields not updating in Hover Editor

Hello!

I opened up an issue on Hover Editor's page, but Pjeby told me to talk to you guys here to figure out the issue.

Here's our discussion. Anyone who can help out?

Hello! I frequently use inline dataview fields to display front matter and other things inline in the note.

The inline fields work fine when opening the note normally, but when opening the note in Hover Editor, the fields do not update.

Inline fields in this note:

# `=this.Title`
By `=link(this.Author)` | About: `=this.About`

Does it work if the hover editor is in preview mode?

Me:

It works when opening the note in preview mode yes, but not in edit mode (I always open my hover-editor in edit mode).

I think you'd probably be better off bringing this up with the other plugin author first. In my own testing, I found that if you move the cursor to the fields, they are rendered once you move out of them. The dataview authors would likely have a better idea of what is or isn't happening there, and even if they need something in Hover Editor to change, they'd be able to tell us more specifically what that is.

I'm still using Obsidian v.0.15.9 and it works!
(but live preview isn't the best context to check inline queries...)

So it is a general bug in the new version?

If you disable the plugin "Hover editor" and try only the core obsidian preview, inline fields are rendering file in that preview?
If yes, maybe the issue is in "hover editor" side.

The normal preview works. I also get problems with the normal dataview tables not updating, until I move the cursor to focus the dataview text, and move it away again. So every table/query has to be focused for them to be visible (or if I switch to reading mode and back).

My question though - is there anything you guys could do to help the hover editor people fix this?

What you're asking for is still somewhat unclear to me. Can you give me steps of how to reproduce this issue as well as the behavior you expected to see? Sorry if I'm making you repeat yourself, digging through dozens of issues at once fries my brain.

No worries. To reproduce:

• Make some inline fields =this.date =this.file.name etc in a note.
• Make a link to the note in another note.
• Open the link in hover editor (live preview mode).
• For me, the inline fields are invisible until focused.
