regexreplace vs. file.name

Hi. Is it possible to use regexreplace on file.name somehow? Basically I’d like to make this work …

TABLE WITHOUT ID
	"[[" + file.name + "|" + regexreplace(file.name, "\d{4}-\d{2}-\d{2} ", "") +  "]]" AS Aufgabe,
…

… but the regexreplace seems to do nothing. Thanks!

I believe using file.day is easier for your use case

How does this help me strip the date from the filenames? Can you elaborate? (I want the filenames without the dates, not the other way round.)

Ah you're right. Hmm, what are you trying to accomplish overall? Have you looked at using the link() constructor?

Ohhh, thanks, that kind of brought me to what I was doing wrong all that time.

I‘ve build myself a little task management system with Properties and Dataview where I use one file per task. I create them with the ISO date at the beginning of the filename (via the Unique note creator) to avoid having to be too creative about how I formulate each task (because I have, kind of, repeating tasks sometimes).

I track the tasks via an overview page with several Dataview queries (for Now, a 14-day horizon, waiting loop, list of all open tasks, Done and Cancelled).

I started out with …

… which worked. But since I need the date in the filename only for its uniqueness (in the file system), the lists of course look much nicer and more readable without it.

When trying to tackle this I initially simply was too lazy—I left the file.link AS Aufgabe in there and simply added "[[" + file.name + "|" + regexreplace(file.name, "\d{4}-\d{2}-\d{2} ", "") + "]]" AS Aufgabe, in the line before. I did not realize my mistake until now and instead assumed that the regexreplace somehow could not work with file.name (when it did the whole time 🙈).

As a bonus of course link(file.name, regexreplace(file.name, "\d{4}-\d{2}-\d{2} ", "")) AS Aufgabe, is much more elegant then my attempt at constructing the link. So, again, thank you!
