Magic keyboard, diacritic dead key option/alt behaviour for backtick

I started using blink shell recently and I've been trying to use it with emacs in particular. I've got an 11" M4 ipad pro with a magic keyboard and I'm having trouble with the option/alt key. If I want to trigger Alt+` I get the little underlined accent symbol waiting for a subsequent character and to actually get the result I need to press that combo three times and even though it works at that point, I am left with a backtick in my buffer (it working isn't super consistent either admittedly). I wanted to ask about this since other keys involved in diacritics (e.g., e) seem to function well in blink shell (e.g., Alt+e works). I'm not sure if this is a limitation for the backtick key in particular or if there is some setting that I am missing. Would appreciate any help or insights 🙏
