Looking for the multi-stage documentation

I was recently looking for a way to use multi-stage build with the plugin. I found this PR saying that the multi-stage build support was added. However, I could not find any documentation on this subject in the user guide nor the code samples. I there any documentation existing that I might have missed somewhere?

If no documentation has been written yet, has anyone ever management to make a multi-stage dockerfile work with this gradle plugin? For instance, here is the Dockerfile I'm trying to reproduce:

FROM node:20-alpine3.19 AS builder
WORKDIR /app
COPY package*.json .
RUN npm install
COPY . .
RUN npm run build

# Stage 2: Create the production image
