overlapping choices and description windows

I haven't found any configuration that doesn't overlap like this, I assume this isn't intended but maybe I am wrong.

Edit: actually there are two overlaps that would be nice to fix, first the description is hiding choices but also choices is hiding what I'm typing

Edit 2: this is not affected by using JTextArea or RSyntaxTextArea for the input

also it would be nice if the windows were sized to avoid scrollbars by default, although I can hack that in myself if I can find the correct font to use metrics from
