Impossible to install the plugin

Hi People,

I tried to install the plugin w/o any success. The system reply installed but UNKNOWN!! The consequence is that when I try to manage.py and migrate or simply restart the netbox process, it doesn-t recognize any plugin installed.

Any idea?

Hi @Fegatospappolato ,

I think this is a version issue.

Try plugin version 0.3.5 or less for Netbox 4.1.x.
If Netbox is updated to version 4.2.x you can then use the latest plugin version.

Uninstall the plugin and try:
pip install netbox-librenms-plugin==0.3.5

The rest of the installation instructions should be the same.

indeed looks better like that, but if I try to execute the migrate, it keep on saying no module found.

Hi @Fegatospappolato ,

It looks like the plugin is installed on the system python not in Netbox virtual environment. I think using sudo with pip install .... will bypass the virtual environment and install to the system path. Try without sudo.

My susggestion would be:

1. First, uninstall the incorrectly installed plugin

sudo pip uninstall netbox-librenms-plugin

2. Make sure you're in the NetBox virtual environment

cd /opt/netbox
source venv/bin/activate

3. Install the plugin without sudo

pip install netbox-librenms-plugin==0.3.5

4. Verify it's installed in the correct location

pip show netbox-librenms-plugin
# Should show Location: /opt/netbox/venv/lib/python3.10/site-packages

5. Now try the migration

cd /opt/netbox/netbox
python manage.py migrate

If you get permission issues installing the plugin, then you might need to switch to the root account sudo su - then repeat from step 2.
