Run-time dependency gimp-3.0 found: NO

Heya,

I'm attempting to compile this plugin from source (nope, not using flatpak I hate it), but for some reason this does not work for me?

I get the following error (full log at end of this post):

enginePlugin/meson.build:33:11: ERROR: Dependency "gimp-3.0" not found, tried pkgconfig and cmake

...however, whilst the install instructions alludes to libgimp-3.0-dev being needed, which I already have:

....so I'm really not sure what's going on. I've tried looking around the docs but it doesn't seem to mention any other dependencies that are required, and I've also tried building with both the meson and meson-1.5 packages from apt to no available (the error and logs don't change).

I'm inclined to think that this is a bug in the documentation rather than in the code.

the very first thing
did you reboot since "libgimp-3.0-dev" was installed

then double check that " /usr/include/gimp-3.0 " exists
and that "/usr/lib64/pkgconfig/gimp-3.0.pc" exists

then if you are using this

meson setup resynthesizerBuild
cd resynthesizerBuild
meson compile --verbose -j 12
meson install

---

this WILL install to /usr/local
that may or may not be in your system $PATH and likely NOT where gimp is installed

i have been using this in the build folder

meson setup --buildtype release --prefix /usr ../

---

this will have the plugin install to /usr/lib64/gimp/3.0/plug-ins/

Yep, same issue after multiple reboots

then double check that " /usr/include/gimp-3.0 " exists

and that "/usr/lib64/pkgconfig/gimp-3.0.pc" exists

Nope, it doesn't:

then if you are using this

Right, it's the first meson setup resynthesizerBuild (I'm on the git branch resynthesizer3) that is failing here.

Right, okay. That should be on my PATH but I'm not getting that far because I can't complete the build.

Hello.
I also installed gimp3 on my Mint 22.1 system using ubuntuhandbook1 ppa.

Look inside the "meson full log" generated during the meson setup. It may say "Package 'gexiv2', required by 'gimp-3.0', not found". In that case just install "libgexiv2-dev".
Use the "--prefix /usr" so that it will install inside "/usr/local/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gimp/3.0/plug-ins". After that for me it built and installed in the correct path that is already present inside the gimp preferences.
Or you may leave the default "/usr/local" prefix then add this path inside gimp preferences for plug-ins.
