Combine all archives in one repo?

Is there a way to combine all the archives in all the repos I have already made, into one new repo ??? I have already tried adding the " existing repo" to a new repo and it fails, and now I cant even use the repos already created.. So I now have several repos containing archives which I can not access.... did I really mess up or do I have a chance to get back to normal ?? Thanks

Indeed, it seems you messed up. ;-)
From your description, it is not quite clear what you want to achieve, and why.
Vorta uses borg 1.4.x for the backups.

1. If you want to use different clients (computers) to make backups to the same repo, this seems to be partially supported by borg:
   Multiple clients to one Borg repo borgbackup/borg#7186
   However, this is not recommended if you rely on encryption. Also, creating a backup might be time-consuming, since borg has to check/ rebuild the local cache whenever you switch the client.

2. Using borg it seems to be possible to export archives from an old repository and import these archives to a new repository:
   Merging multiple repo's into one. borgbackup/borg#7879
   However, keep in mind that this transfer might not be lossless - and very time-consuming.

In both cases, it might be necessary to use borg commands directly. Also, you should have a solid understanding of how borg works, and what is necessary for working en-/decryption.

With Vorta/ borg 1.4 I recommend using one client per repository - also I would not transfer archives but just keep old repos around as long as necessary.

In response , What I am trying to do is recover a backup made at an earlier date because it has data I need.
Because I am a newbie to the app, I somehow made the backup unavailable to the app. In my attempt to get back to the original situation and recover the app, I created several backups, and none of the older versions can be seen by the newer and somehow the older backups are available to anything... hope that makes sense.. SO, I was asking if there was a way to combine all the backups into one OT at this time I would be happy to be able to have access to the older backups....

If you have the name of the repository, the passphrase and the access to the backup server/ device, there should be no problem to recover.

Do you use Linux or MacOS?
If on Linux, do you use the Flatpak version of Vorta?
Is your repository on a dedicated backup server? Or do you use a local backup (USB-drive)?

1. If you are lost, since you have (accidentally) created several repositories with similar names, it is helpful to look at the folder names on your backup device:
   A repository is just a folder with archives inside. The name of the folder equals the name of the repository.

2. If you have identified your repository, you can use borg (on the command line) to list the archives that are inside a repository (folder). borg list /path/to/repo

3. If you are sure about your repository name and address, you can add it back to Vorta:

• create a new Profile
• In the repository pane: Use + icon to add an existing repository
  • be careful about the address of the existing profile - no typos allowed/ case-sensitive
  • type your password
  • you might need extra options (depending on the sever/ provider)
