Thanks for the suggestion.

We indeed do think that coupling Open Source FEM solvers with pyLife is a good idea on the way to a completely open calculation chain for mechanical engineering. That said, I have to clearly say, that we at Bosch do not have (and probably will not have in the upcoming years) have the capacity to do it. However, if anyone else is willing to do the actual work, we can support and do code review and take over maintenance to some degree.

So if anyone wants to do it, I think it would be a good idea to layout the actual steps beforehand and also implement it in small steps rather than in one big PR. Then the reviewing would be a lot easier.

I made an issue at calculix. Perhaps a development starts.
Fatigue is also important issue for the developers of calculix at MTU Munich.

TUM Munich develops precice to couple tools of FEA, CFD and others. I made an issue pyLife.
Calculix 2.20 and other FEA adapters to precice are here available.

We will join the preCICE workshop 2025 in September 2025. I think, that is the perfect place for a alignment regarding the integration/interface of pyLife and other OSS simulation stacks like Calculix.
