How to install pre-release runners?

I would like to try Proton 10 beta runner or wine 10.6, but they are not available in the list (today, 1 May 2025). The latest I have are system wine (10.0) or Proton 9.27. There are lots of discussions on reddit about using these runners in Lutris or Steam Deck so I know they are commonly available.

The bottles docs have an example where there is a button to "show pre-release runners" but I do not have that available (bottles version 51.21). Has this option been removed? How can I install newer runners than are currently shown in the lists?

Currently Battle.net is broken unless being launched with Proton 10.0-1 (beta) in Steam; Bottles and Lutris both don't work

Currently, there don't seem to be any pre-release runners, and Proton is different from Proton-GE. Proton-GE doesn't have a 10.0 version at the moment. Try kron4ek-wine-10.6-amd64?

My goto method now is to use steam to install battle.net and run it so i can update games etc.

But i just use straight up wine-staging for wow alone.*

Firstly, follow this https://github.com/lutris/docs/blob/master/WineDependencies.md for your distro!

1.) install Steam and enable compatibility mode -> Proton 10.0.1 Beta <- important!
2.) go to Download.Battle.Net and download setup file
3.) go back to Steam and add non-steam game (select the setup exe file)
4.) install as normally and exit the setup as soon as you are prompted with the login page
5.) go back to steam and modify the added non-steam game and find your battle.net exe (on endeavour its under "/home/YOURUSER/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/data/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2477108103/pfx/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Battle.net/" and select "Battle.net Launcher.exe"
Notice: the number "2477108103" can variate depending on your installation.

6.) Now run as normally and install whatever game you want (ideally choose a location which is EASIER to access ((i.e something in "home")))
7.) When done, go to said folder and open in terminal and simply do "wine WhateverYouWant.exe" -> in my case "wine WowClassic.exe"

Congrats, you are now running wow solely through wine and got a steady way of updating the game(s). And no longer need to wait for Bottles, Lutris or w/e to update their stuff.

Just want to give some feedback regarding the Battle.net (World of Warcraft), in my case with kron4ek-wine-proton-10.0-1-amd64 in Bottles, the game is now flawless/same level it was with ge-proton9-27 (or it seems to be).

Was having the exact some problem with playonlinux. Tried bottles with all kinds of launcher options, nothing works. May be out of luck on this one have to bite the windows bullet; too frustrating and all potential fixes are speculative.
