Smart ChatGPT – I cannot see the needed parameters in the OPTIONS, something is weird or I am doing something wrong

Hi, I am following this video, to setup smart Chat:

And in the settings he gets all sorts of parameters:

And apparently in the Smart Connections options I do have installed what is needed

It is important to note that I do not have the PRO version. Is all of this available only in the PRO version? Can you please help me or guide me?

In fact, as I am watching the video, I realize that not even my Smart Connections options look like the options in the video. I don't think I am using the wrong plugins with similar name, am I? Or is it that only the paid version has all that?

Given the continuous support requirements, all API integrations have been moved to Pro versions of the plugins.

If you want the same interface as in the video, you can still use version 3.0.80 easily with the BRAT plugin. Though, that version is no longer supported and may not be compatible with other newer Smart Plugins.

Thanks for the reply. Not the desired answer :-) but it is preferable to know this.

Now... From a UX point of view the experience is not a good one. There are plugins that literally "do nothing" now such as Smart ChatGPT and Smart Connections Visualizer. The plugins must inform users that "hey, this only works with the paid version"

One more suggestion. About that video, since it is mentioned that you (Brian) paid for it, maybe you can ask to be modified so that it says that there is a big change and it is outdated and so on

I have to disagree. The core Smart Chat plugin (aka Smart ChatGPT) is personally one of my most-used plugins. You can learn about how to use the core codeblock feature here.

I'm not sure why Smart Connections Visualizer isn't working, but it doesn't depend on any API integrations so that can't be the issue.

Thanks for the extra details and further links.

What I meant to say is this. The video says "download this and do that and voilá" and it is not like that anymore, rather "download this and this part will work but all the rest you will have to pay and then it will become available to you"... So, from that perspective, it is clearly outdated.

And considering my other comment, that if one installs "Smart ChatGPT" without paying, the plugin does nothing (unless I am very mistaken, if so please tell me) the user experience is poor, because, I have downloaded it and I cannot do anything with it and it does not hint me at all that I should be paying to get it working.

Please understand, this is just feedback. I am not complaining about your commercial strategy. I am sharing with you how bad this experience made me feel. UX matters.

The Smart ChatGPT plugin, available for free, does what's shown in the above link. It provides utility for working with AI chats inside of Obsidian. I use that same core feature, which is available without paying anything, to track thousands of AI chat threads throughout my vault. So, once again, I have to disagree when you say it does nothing.

API integrations, which require either paying a provider or investing in expensive hardware to be useful, have been moved to Pro plugins. But that is a separate feature than what the core plugins provide.

I do agree that UX is incredibly important, and that's a primary driver for the switch to the Pro plugins paradigm. API integrations are not something that is commonly understood, and the additional configurations has caused much confusion when included in the free versions.

Unfortunately, there are many outdated videos on YouTube. My current focus on UX is on what's inside the plugin. There are now many help buttons in the features and settings that link directly to up-to-date documentation. I do think wanderloots did an amazing job with his video and I look forward to working with him again in the future, but currently there is no ETA on a next video 🌴

That appears to be a bug in the visualizer plugin that was developed by a member of the community. I can help him resolve it if necessary, but I don't have control over that plugin 🌴

PS- the Pro version of Smart Connections includes a visualizer for connections in the Connections List view (doesn't require opening a second tab) 🌴
