[BUG] Opening 4k textures freezes entire editor

When I try opening a 4k texture, right clicking on its file, even just trying to rename it, the editor completely freezes, it has even crashed a few times. Using 4k textures is very important for many of the projects I work on and I'm sure it's important for others as well. Sometimes the texture does load, but then the editor crashes.

Are you talking about blockbench inside bridge?
Try using proxies textures instead

Blockbench has a 4gb limit and is optimized for NON-HD content Jannis will not change this.
As he doesnt' like HD Content IME of doing this for 6 years daily
You can also turn off the auto save.

no i am not talking about blockbench, i do not even use blockbench, neither do i ever even try to open textures anymore, just importing them in the editor freezes it

Very odd. I use massive files, bigger than you could dream up and I haven't had this in bridge v1

i use v2 i thought the newer version would have more support for scenario like these, i will try turning off auto save in it and see if that fixes it

no, turning off auto compile and watch mode and whatever did not fix the lag, my workflow usually consists of me just adding the blank entity option and importing there, because my project uses a bunch of static entities, and it is a lot quicker that way. I just click add file > blank entity, and then i add the texture, i use atlases so it overwrites the same texture when i add an entity, but that shouldnt cause lag.

ok. yeah sorry can't help. To give you an idea on Bridge v1 my larges image is 182mb 16,000x16,000 It's movies made in to flipbook

What is the dimensions you said 4k is it really 1:1 4k of the files you're using
png, jpg?
webp and the file extention got change not converted maybe?
32bit, vs 8bit

Keep inmind most these webapps have a 4gb ram limit.

4k 4096 x 4096 1:1 32 bit, the files are usually around 10 MB, they are png
