Privacy Policy – SecureVault

Product: SecureVault – Encrypted Data Vault

1. Overview

SecureVault is designed with strict data privacy principles at its core.
All data handled by SecureVault is encrypted locally and remains entirely under the user’s control at all times.

SecureVault does not transmit, synchronize, collect, store, or share any personal data outside of the user’s own device.

2. Local-Only Data Processing

All operations take place locally:

  • Files are stored in an encrypted container on the user’s system
  • Decryption occurs only in memory during an active session
  • No cloud connection is needed or utilized
  • No telemetry, tracking, analytics, or background networking

SecureVault never uploads any data to remote servers.

3. Data We Do Not Collect

SecureVault does not collect or process:

  • Personal identity information
  • Credentials or passwords
  • Usage analytics or behavioral data
  • File names or contents
  • Hardware identifiers
  • IP addresses or geolocation
  • Crash reports or logs

“No account. No tracking. No footprint.”

4. User Responsibility

The user remains responsible for:

  • Choosing a secure and unique password
  • Safeguarding access to their device and encrypted container
  • Maintaining backups (if desired)

SecureVault cannot restore access if the user forgets their password.
There are no backdoors and no recovery keys.

5. Encryption & Security

Data protection is enforced using strong cryptography:

  • AES-256-GCM and/or XChaCha20-Poly1305
  • Argon2id password-based key derivation
  • No plaintext storage or password caching on disk

Technical encryption standards are detailed in CRYPTOGRAPHY

6. Third-Party Services

SecureVault does not use:

  • Advertising services
  • Cloud hosting
  • Telemetry frameworks
  • Third-party analytics

The software is fully independent from third-party data services.

7. Open Source Integrity

SecureVault uses open, verifiable technologies.
The source code may be reviewed for transparency and security assurance.

Users are encouraged to report security concerns responsibly via the contact listed in SECURITY

8. Changes to This Policy

If updated, the most recent version of this policy will be included in the software distribution and repository.

Material changes will be communicated clearly.
