When I set an email address to enable automatic https is my email address made public somewhere?

This is more of a question than an issue.

In the docs it says:

Automatic HTTPS
To have automatic HTTPS (not to be confused with On-demand TLS), you simply have to specify your email in the config map. When using Helm chart, you can add --set ingressController.config.email=your@email.com when installing.

My question is where will my email address end up?
Does it get published publicly some where?
