Question/Freature request: Why is the equalizer limited to +/-24dB? #378

Hiya,
Is there some specific reasoning for it, or could we perhaps have the option to double or triple the scale, or perhaps even custom scailng amounts all the way to iinfinity? I would like to use the Calf Studio plugins with Ardour for sound design but unfortunately +/-24dB is too little for me, and having to stack multiple EQs for a bigger boost/attenuation is a bit too much of a hassle and takes a lot of CPU.
