UI freeze while (re?)connecting to WIFI

Bug Description

I noticed the same issue while trying to install on a Laptop. After re-starting the installer once the latest version has been downloaded over WIFI, the page for connecting to WIFI (why is it even necessary if I am already connected?) freezes.

The issue is not seen when connected via ethernet.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

I click "next" on the app until I get to networking, enter WIFI password, then the app offers to download an updated version of the installer. After the update I am prompted to reopen the installer again now that it has been updated. Click "next" again until I get to the networking page, but this time when I select the SSID (which I am already connected to) and click the button , the UI freezes indefinitely - no dialogue boxes open or anything.

Thanks for the report - if you can reproduce the issue reliably, could you please provide the logs from /var/log/installer/ubuntu_bootstrap.log?

Can confirm that this happens to me as well.
It doesn't just happen on re-connect though, it happens when setting up Ubuntu for the first time too.
A work around I found is to get to the point where it freezes and then select don't connect from the list. Press next and it will actually still be connected to the network you selected earlier.
I'll try get my logs here in a minute.

Thanks for the logs. I'm still not able to reproduce this or understand what's going on, unfortunately.
I've created a debug build with some additional log statements, that should help narrow down the issue. I'd appreciate it if you could reproduce the issue using the snap channel 26.04/edge/network-page-debugging and provide the ubuntu_bootstrap.log as well as the system journal.

The intended UX (which is what I see when I try to reproduce it myself) is the following:

• before connecting to an access point a list of access points is shown on the network page and the button in the bottom right corner of the page reads 'connect' for any selected AP.
• after successfully connecting to an AP, the button should read 'next' when that AP is selected, and 'connect' for any other AP

I'm still very puzzled by this issue. I've uploaded a new snap to 26.04/edge/network-page-debugging with even more debug logs. I'd be happy if you could reproduce the issue again with that version and also provide relevant entries from the journal (journalctl -u NetworkManager.service).
