yep, thats a pretty good use case for on init func. but, not like this:

def some_on_init(cls):
    cls.transport.write(cls.channel._auth_telnet_login_pattern="^(.*username:)|(.*login:)|(.*user name:)\s?$")

do it like this:

def some_on_init(cls):
    cls.channel._auth_telnet_login_pattern="^(.*username:)|(.*login:)|(.*user name:)\s?$") name:)\s?$")

ahh thats my bad. yeah we run the on_init callable in the base class init method -- that gets called before the sync/async base driver subclasses (they super it), and so the transport/channel are not set. I think this probably could/should be changed. would you be up to make a pr that adds a _post_init method to the base class -- then that method would need to be called after the init method of the sync/async base drivers -- like right after here

otherwise for now I think you need to use the setter. and on that note I gave you bad advice before, its nicer to do it like this I think:

using the setter is just a little nicer looking, but both ways should work.
