Description
How could the content be improved?
The Introductions section of this lesson has four sections with overlapping / repeating content:
- 8 things in the solution to the "What is in an Introduction?" challenge
- 5 objectives for learners and 3 for instructors in the "Learning Objectives For your Introduction"
- 5 "things to pay attention to" in Setting the Stage
- 7 pieces of "critical information" in Teaching Your Trajectory: Workshop 101
I think the episode could be re-organized to have less repetition and have all of the points together. The past two times I've taught this, I have modified the material as follows:
- Created a list of all of these objectives / tips in my notes
- Done an around-the-room exercise where I ask learners to add an answer to one of these two prompts "What information do you want to communicate to your learners in your introduction" and "What information do you want to get from your learners during your introductions" and then in the discussion, added points from the first list that didn't come up in the exercise.
Open to other suggestions of ways to teach this, but I would very much like to reduce the number of lists about Introductions in the material.
Which part of the content does your suggestion apply to?
