Can I use source or export in justfile and let them modify current shell environment (not recipe) after running just some_recipe?

For example, I'd like to use just setup to install rye by

setup:
    curl -sSf https://rye-up.com/get | bash
    echo "source $HOME/.rye/env" >> ~/.bashrc
    # and source "$HOME/.rye/env" ? to make `rye` workable in current shell running `just`.

You can use a shebang recipe, which is run as a script, which causes variables defined in one line to be available on the next:

setup:
    #!/usr/bin/env bash
    curl -sSf https://rye-up.com/get | bash
    echo "source $HOME/.rye/env" >> ~/.bashrc
    # and source "$HOME/.rye/env" ? to make `rye` workable in current shell running `just`.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. However that's not working and maybe you misunderstood my question. One will still run source "$HOME/.rye/env" to get rye discoverable in current working shell.

The rye directory /Users/maximin/.rye/shims was not detected on PATH.
It is highly recommended that you add it.
Add this at the end of your .profile, .zprofile or similar:

    source "$HOME/.rye/env"

Note: after adding rye to your path, restart your shell for it to take effect.

Ahh, okay, got it. This isn't possible because just runs recipes in sub-shells, so those changes won't be available in the outer shell.
