The topic of plumbing came up, so I thought I'd lay out some ideas people can mull over.
Electrical Grid
Currently, electrical grids are local unless the map spawns with the associations, or you edit your save.
I suggest that a circuit breaker could be added to configure adjacent (8 directions) OMT to connect them.
Additional distance could be gained by using a relay box.
The circuit breaker could serve as a hub for electronics, with a menu that allows you to see everything currently hooked up, their draw, the current load, etc. Essentially a suped up volt-meter.
They wouldn't be needed if your grid needs to only be 1 tile.
Plumbing
I suggest that the same be true for plumbing. In this case it would be a septic tank, with pumps being the "extenders"
Store water in tanks, distribute it to sinks, gather it from the river, wells, etc..
Infrastructure
A minor thing, and I may be the only one, but I don't like how you can plonk a microwave down, and because there's a solar panel on the roof, it just works once "hooked up"
I suggest that electric and plumbing both get a per OMT infrastructure resource. It's cap is the requirement, and if it's lower then things won't work. This is bypassed for single OMT setups because I don't want this to be frustrating.
If you remove something, you get it back 100%. If you add something, you go to the circuit breaker/septic tank and just add wire or pipe respectively. Just takes a little time and those resources. No chance of failure or anything, just cool to have a use for this stuff and a central location to interact with them.
