General

  • What's your name? How do your friends call you?
    • The official name is Jakub, but as a short version/nickname Kuba is commonly used. Also all friends call me Kuba.
  • When were you born?
    • 0x1A Feb 0x7BB
  • Where are you from? Where have you lived?
    • I'm originally from Lublin (Poland), but I also lived for a couple of years in San Francisco (US) and now in Kraków (Poland).
  • What languages (natural and programming ones) do you know?
    • I speak Polish (native) and English. Regarding programming languages, I had a chance to touch almost everything from the main stream and some academia stuff (like Prolog and Lisp), but personally my preferences are C, Go, Prolog.
  • Would like to share your Twitter, Instagram or Medium or any other social media account?
    • I do not use any social media (long time ago I was active on G+, posting mostly my photos)

Work

  • What are you going to be doing at source{d}?
    • I'm a Software Engineer at Data Retrieval team, what means I mainly work with different distributted storage systems.
  • Why did you join source{d}?
    • Great team focused on AI/ML research; Open Source; It also matches my tech preferences.
  • Where will you work from?
    • Most often I work remotely from Kraków, Poland.
  • If you could only save one programming language, which one would it be?
    • I think it would be C as a good starting point to reinvent the wheel.
  • If you wanted to do an investment, what company would you choose?
    • I would prefer to invest in some open source communities, like Arduino, etc.

  • What are your hobbies and what do you like about them?

    • Hacking, hiking, photography & snowboarding, ...

  • What was the last lie you told?

    • I'm not lying at all :)

  • What was your first thought when you woke up this morning?

    • Why do snooze buttons typically delay the alarm by 9 minutes?

  • What question do you hate to answer?

    • This one sounds awkward.

  • What’s your favorite knock-knock joke?

    • I don't have any (it's very US specific), but ad-hoc I can make one or two (which is not pure knock-knock joke), to pretend that I know things that I don't know about:

  • If you could have a coffee with any person in the world, who would it be?

    • Actually I would more appreciate a coffee with any of my old friends who I haven't seen in person for years.

  • What food do you like and dislike?

    • I like almost any Italian food, but I can't handle sea food.

  • What is your favorite quote?
