Is knots compatible?

I see the following requirement in the README:

For BTC: Bitcoin Core v0.17.0 or later. No other full nodes are supported by this software for BTC.

but are modern bitcoin core versions or knots compatible?

I don’t know since I never tried knots. I suspect it would be compatible since knots is a more recent fork of core, correct?

At worst fulcrum might misidentify the chain as BCH until it hits a segwit block then realize it’s actually BTC…. Hmm.

I would have to spin up a knots full node to test I suppose ..

or if anybody has tried knots and sees this please chime in

Yes, knots is just a fork so i believe it should be by default

Only wrinkle in the story is Fulcrum tries to “guess” whether it’s on BCH vs BTC

it uses the bitcoind useragent for this guess.

if it doesn’t see “Satoshi” in the user agent it assumes BCH…

so it may complain later when it sees segwit stuff appearing on what it thinks is BCH… I forget what happens then if Fulcrum just switches to thinking of the chain as BTC or if it quits with an error.

I’d have to check the code later when I’m at home…

I've been using it with a Knots node. So far it's been working.

In my experience, Fulcrum has always been compatible with Knots. I've been running Knots since v26.1.knots20240513 and I am now running Bitcoin Knots 29.1.knots20250903 and Fulcrum 2.0 (I've upgraded from Fulcrum 1.12.0 with no issue).
