On a trip up to UNT, I got to wander around my old stomping grounds at the College of Music. It was so rejuvenating to be up there. I lovingly wax nostalgic on the place as "my own Disney World for Music."

I'm digging deep into learning finger style guitar. My favorite so far was this [cowboy waltz](/eminordoseydoe) I improvised on my new acoustic.

We'll see where the next year goes. After having gone broad, I'm ready to go deep. While I know Python, I'm interested in getting a few more heavy projects under my belt with it as well as further familiarizing myself with AWS.

A couple of years ago I dedicated myself to learning how to draw and create digital paintings! I used to make my own comics growing up, but I always assumed [my sister had all the talent](https://www.jennpadilla.com/). After switching from music to code, I realized I could learn anything. So I may as well learn a skill I've only ever dreamed of having! 🙂

In 2023 [I taught myself to draw](/lessonsfromdrawing2023). In 2024, I focused on taking those skills to digital art. I've _loved_ working with color and light.

I [wrote down my impressions](/lessonsfrompainting2024) from the experience earlier this year.
I'm far from comfortable with it. When I'm a bit low on energy, I'll reach for a sketchbook, preferring figure studies and drawing from imagination. But digital painting has yielded my proudest pieces. And my album artwork has gotten much more interesting thanks to it!
For the past couple of years, I've been pursuing a long-time dream of making art. This last year [I focused on color and digital art](/lessonsfrompainting2024). It's been a blast, and I'm amazed at how the horizon spans infinitely off in the distance. There's so much to explore here!
The point is to get familiar with perspective. And every now and then I stop and ask "am I doing this wrong? Are there any tips? Am I just not looking at it the wrong way. Maybe if I find another guide..." It's a question I've had for most art. If I find the right strategy, I'll just know how to do the thing.
