We hit a real need at my client project. We had moved a lot of state out of individual pages and into `Shared` to avoid refetching the same data across different parts of the app. Our views already reacted to the changed state just fine, but we needed to react to _the moment of change_ - to trigger effects when something in `Shared` changed, like showing a notification when one component deletes an item that another component is displaying. Without a way to react to those point-in-time events, we had a few unpalatable options:

3. Manually diff `Shared.Model` on every update

4. Let go of the shared state mental model completely, accepting duplicated state across components

5. Fork Elm Land and add the hook we need
