When can I expect v5.5v ?

I've been patiently waiting for multiple critical fixes for almost 2 months now for supposedly 5.5v , In a reddit post almost 2 months ago I saw dev mentioning it'll be released by next month which was December but we are still waiting , I have to manually reboot my phone every single day just to fix battery drain due to memory leak issues in current version , Not to mention there isn't any stable version from a long long time . I'm asking for a release date because I'm tired and if the new version takes more months due to stability fixes (which I support because I know about all the work put in into this project and I completely respect that and absolutely want to support this) but if it takes much longer than that I'll rather shift to directly VPN and manually harden my android than reboot every single day and still suffer for other fixes . Once again , I have nothing but deep admiration for devs , Thankyou again for making it happen .

It seems they will be skipping v0.5.5u for F-Droid, due to accidental build issues that are still being worked on (see #2344).

If you just want the latest update and have no special reason to leave F-Droid, you could wait for v0.5.5v as noted in #2424. But if you specifically want to leave F-Droid, or need to update right now, here's what worked for me. "Cross-flavor" settings restore is allowed (at least from "fdroid" to "website/github"), but I don't know whether it's supported, so YMMV.

1. In v0.5.5t (fdroid), do Configure / Settings / Backup & Restore / Backup, wait for the app to restart to ensure the backup is finished.
   a. Note that if the rest of this procedure doesn't work for some reason, you can reinstall the f-droid version and restore settings (I tried this to make sure it works).
2. Uninstall Rethink, then install v0.5.5t (website).
3. Configure / Settings / Backup & Restore / Restore. Wait again for the app to restart.
   a. The backup does not save on-device blocklist data, so if you use those, do Configure / DNS / On-device blocklists / Update.
   b. My blocklist selections were cleared for some reason, so I restored the config backup again (per step 3) to get those back. Here you might be able to skip the first restore altogether, but I didn't test that.
4. Make sure everything is working to your satisfaction.
5. Update to v0.5.5u (website).
6. In case you don't use an automatic updater like Obtainium, the github flavor of Rethink can check for updates itself, see Configure / Settings / Check for app updates.
