Standard names about errors and uncertainties

Is there any general rule for the construction of standard names for errors and uncertainties ?

Right now, errors and uncertainties are done with the standard name modifier standard_error, see Appendix C. There is work on a netCDF uncertainty section as far as I know that work is ongoing.
