The multi column configurations offer many possibilities !

But they are a little hard to set up.
Sometimes the panel does not want to go in the right place.
Especially to put a panel in the last position of a multi column layout.

Could that be improved ?
To feel more like a real 2D grid space, instead of just sequential columns.

Maybe a new column could be added, if I just move a panel to the right, even if there is enough space in the first column ?
Or maybe we could drag the borders of the panel, to change its size / configuration ( to add or remove columns ) ?
And when a panel it's in the 2nd or 3rd column, it would stay there, unless we move it back, or reduce the Controller width / columns.

What I've done in 0.9.5

• the controller can now be resized vertically and will add or remove columns as needed
• if you drag a nodeblock on the empty space and pause, it will move it to the end of the list

See how that works. I'm only going to do what can be accomplised within the flex layout standard, otherwise support becomes an absolute nightmare!

By the way, this slider panel in the workflow, it's a switch from ComfyUI-Impact-Pack 

It also works in the Controller !

About switches and buttons in the Controller :

The Impact Pack switch accepts multiple inputs.
And the input value widget is numeric, so it shows up a a slider in the Controller ( I'm OK with that ).

The Trung 0246 switch also accepts multiple inputs.
But, instead of a numeric widget, it uses a COMBO box ! ( the input labels are the COMBO options ! )
And it adds more switches to the node, if we add more outputs !
But the Trung 0246 nodes don't work in the Controller.
Also, I'm having a different issue with these nodes ( Trung0246/ComfyUI-0246#43 ), so I'm not using them right now.

The WAS switches, use a toggle widget, and accept only 2 inputs. 
The button is not in the "switch" node itself, but in the "Logic Boolean Primitive".
But the "Logic Boolean Primitive" node does not work with the Controller.

I'm not going to start special casing for other custom nodes in v1.

That way lies madness.

Keep this on the radar for future enhancements.

I'm happy with the Impact Pack switch !

I just find it interesting, the way the different switches work ...

I love being able to scale the controller !
But this causes some issues:

Issue:

If I manually adjust for a small panel ( e.g. when only one group is shown ), the Controller will keep the same height when I change the view ( e.g. all groups ), and creates 5 columns !

Potential solution:

We could have icon / button in the controller to enable auto scale ( https://thenounproject.com/icon/auto-scale-327623/ )
If enabled, the height will be auto adjusted, when the view is changed.
To indicate a disabled state, maybe you could just make the icon grey.

Like before, the auto scale will set the minimum height to use the minimum possible amount of columns.
But now it will allow full size columns.
