No persistent server connecting

It seems that the app doesn’t keep a persistent connection with the server when no music is playing and when the screen is locked. The app is still open in the background but it still seems to have a time out. The server doesn’t see an active speaker after a while and when I unlock the tablet the app is back in the server selection page. Comparing it to the Squeezelite app, that app doesn't seem to have that problem.

And btw I already had a look in my setting regarding background limitations for app. But as far as I could see there was nothing stopping it.

@ChristopherPro I did some adjustments around this for 1.0.33 if you could do a bit of testing, I took inspiration from the squeezelite app so thank you for that reference!

First, I am glad to hear that reference to Squeezelite helped and nope sorry, I am sad to say that it is not yet working and it may have broken something. Oke in detail:

The problem with persistent connection when no music is playing and screen locked, is still there. But now I seem to get an interruption, after a while, when my music is playing regardless if the screen is locked of login and active. This leads to a music stop from that speaker/device. Maybe better explained in with the following group example:
If I sync my SendspinDroid device with my voice PE then after a while the SendspinDroid device gets interrupted. The music will keep playing from the voice PE but the SendspinDroid device stops playing music dead in its tracks.
It feels like it is trying to reconnect even though it is already connected. I didn't time how long it takes for an interruption to happen, but I have a feeling that they occur around similar intervals.
But to state again I have this happen in single speaker setting and group setting.

Maybe the function to (re)connect is a little too aggressive now. And is the function a foreground function or a background function? That could explain it not working when the screen gets locked.

And btw I saw that in version 1.0.33 “persistent connection” was added as an option in settings. However it v 1.0.34 I am not seeing it as an option anymore. Not sure if that was on purpose, but would prefer to have it as an option.

I am also seeing this issue with v1.0,34

I have it running on my Lenovo ThinkSmart and even though it is running on the device it is dropped from MA server. I have to to bring the SSD (sendspingdroid) to the forefront on my thnkSmart and then it will show back up in MA. This issue seems to cause a problem in HA where the device (Kitchen ThinkSmart or my Phone in my case) will show as multiple entities. So my Kitchen ThinkSmart card has to be edited everyday in order for the Media control card to work correctly.
