Follow system theme does not work

I am using Gnome42 under Arch and the "Follow system theme" does not work.

I am using the Flatpak version and Gnome, on NixOS, and for me the setting is not working. Same on my Laptop for Fedora.

As not everyone is following everything desktop Linux closely: For most of the time of Linux desktop, there was no universal way to set a system theme / colour scheme preference. That changed with org.freedesktop.appearance.color-scheme. Before that, the colour scheme was detected based on heuristics like GTK theme name ending with "-dark". GNOME switched to the now proper way, so the never guaranteed to be stable heuristics broke. That's the reason for why things broke two years ago, as that was the time theme loading changed.

There is a tauri plugin for abstracting away this for Linux, Windows, and macOS: https://github.com/wyhaya/tauri-plugin-theme (available as a crate for Tauri v1 and v2) That plugin also allows for manually overriding the system theme – that way the window decoration would also be dark mode when Cinny is in dark mode on a light mode system. That would require using the exposed JS API to bind it to the chosen Cinny theme, but I'm not sure how to best handle a cinny-desktop specific JS component.

This issue persists in the 4.11.1 Flathub release (on Fedora 43, KDE Plasma 6.5.5). In addition, since 4.11 the window uses the GTK layout instead of Plasma's, always in light theme regardless of the system or Cinny appearance setting. Not sure if that's related or not..
