Have a few people go through the getting started docs and report how it went. Please add a comment saying you went through it and which operating system you used. Report any problems here or (even better) send a pull request to ClojureBridge National to update the docs.

We would love to have this feedback! We are especially interested in eyes on the Windows 7 and WIndows 8 instructions.

Here are my notes from the first part of the windows 8 setup.

Check for 32 bit vs 64 bit
typing system gave two options "System Information" and "System Configuration"
could not get directly to the system screen.
typed control panel and then chose system from the control panel screen
I later upgraded to Windows 8.1 and System was an option

After Installing LightTable, I went to View Commands and typed Insta Selected "Instarepl: Open a clojure instarepl" and received a message box saying
We couldn't find java.
Clojure evaluation requires the JDK to be installed.

Tried setting JAVA_HOME - changed the error message
We Couldn't connect.
Looks like there was an issue trying to connect to the project. Here's what we got:
Could not find command: java

After putting "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_51\bin" on the path and it worked.

I have not tried the Heroku parts yet.

The Heroku portion of the windows 8 install worked as expected. The only improvement that I could see was the screenshot to download the Heroku Toolbelt is for Mac OS.

Looks like the button to 'close and comment' means to close the issue and not 'save and exit' I should have some time tonight to try the programming sections on windows 8.

I went through the Mac version and everything worked fine for me.

My only comment/question was at the end. People are used to "exiting" things when they're done, an inclination supported by several "you can quit this now" steps in the setup. For people with limited prior experience, they might feel like they need to "turn off" their Heroku web app at the very end.

It might be worth adding a bit that explains at least a little about what's happening when an app gets pushed to Heroku, and why we don't have to "quit" anything at the end.
