# 🔮 Aeternum
2+
![showcase image](./showcase.png)
3+
4+
> Aeternum is a **free** and **open-source**, image upscaler powered by [ncnn](https://github.com/Tencent/ncnn) via [upscayl-ncnn](https://github.com/upscayl/upscayl-ncnn).
5+
6+
Being a cloudy-org application, it naturally follows the [Cloudy Philosophy](https://github.com/cloudy-org/.github/blob/main/philosophy.md).
7+
8+
It's designed to be **lightweight**, **privacy-respecting** and **simple**.
9+
10+
## Background
11+
Aeternum was actually started by [me](https://ananas.moe) because i wanted to broaden the [cloudy-org](https://github.com/cloudy-org) catalogue and also a way of learning [rust](https://rust-lang.org/) aswell as [egui](https://github.com/emilk/egui).
12+
13+
## Install
14+
See [install.md](./install.md) for the installation guide.
15+
16+
## How to use?
17+
!!! info
18+
At the moment, MacOS support is unknown, [me](https://ananas.moe) aswell as [goldy](https://devgoldy.xyz) don't own anything that runs MacOS. If you own a device with MacOS, please try running it and let us know via an [issue](https://github.com/cloudy-org/aeternum/issues/new) how it went.
19+
20+
Here's a quick guide how to start working with aeternum.

# Installing aeternum
2+
We currently support Windows 10 (and up) aswell as Linux!
3+
4+
!!! warn
5+
Like mentioned above MacOS support is unknown, we only provide a portable MacOS variant.
6+
7+
## 🪟 Windows 10+
8+
There's **multiple** ways of installing aeternum on your Windows device.
9+
10+
The easist is with the aeterum [installer](#win-installer).
11+
12+
### Installer { #win-installer }
13+
Start of by downloading the latest [aeternum-setup.exe](https://github.com/cloudy-org/aeternum/releases/download/latest/aeternum-setup.exe).
14+
15+
The install setup works like every other installer.
16+
17+
- **Select the install method.**
18+
You can either install it for all users or only for yourself.
19+
20+
- **Select the Language.**
21+
22+
- **Accept the License.**
23+
!!! warn
24+
By accepting this license, you accept that we are not liability for anything you do with it and that we also don't give you warranty for anything.
25+
26+
- **Select where it should be installed.**
27+
!!! info
28+
By default it'll install into `C:\Program Files\aeternum`
29+
30+
- **Wait.**
31+
The installer will now extract all important files for aeternum to work, in the directory what you specified in step 4.
32+
33+
- **Done.**
34+
Aeternum has finished installing and now can be used.
35+
36+
#### Portable
37+
Start of by downloading the latest [aeternum-x86_64-pc-windows-msvc.zip](https://github.com/cloudy-org/aeternum/releases/download/latest/aeternum-x86_64-pc-windows-msvc.zip).
38+
39+
- **Extract the contents.**
40+
This can be done with the normal windows explorer (or any other third party zip program like [7-zip](https://7-zip.org/)).
41+
42+
- **Open the folder.**
43+
Open the folder with the extracted contents.
44+
45+
- **Run.**
46+
Now you can open aeternum via the `aeternum.exe`.
47+
48+
!!! info
49+
This is how you'll have to open it up everytime, if you would like it via the Windows Search or via a shortcut on your desktop then we recommend you use the [installer](#win-installer) method.
50+
51+
## 🐧 Linux
52+
We recommend you using your package manager to install aeternum (if avaliable).
53+
54+
#### Package manager
55+
The only official packages we provide are for Arch so the AUR, every other packages are provided by **third-parties**.
56+
57+
##### Bin
58+
[![packaging_status](https://repology.org/badge/vertical-allrepos/aeternum-bin.svg)](https://repology.org/project/aeternum-bin/versions)
59+
60+
For the **arch** package just use (we will use [yay](https://github.com/Jguer/yay) as an example here, replace yay if you use a different aur package manager):
61+
```sh title="Terminal"
62+
yay -Sy aeternum-bin
63+
```
64+
65+
!!! info
66+
For every other linux distribution, you'll have to check if your package manager has the `aeternum-bin` package.
67+
68+
##### Build
69+
This will build the package from the [latest release](https://github.com/cloudy-org/aeternum/releases/latest).
70+
71+
[![packaging_status](https://repology.org/badge/vertical-allrepos/aeternum.svg)](https://repology.org/project/aeternum/versions)
72+
73+
For the **arch** package just use (we will use [yay](https://github.com/Jguer/yay) as an example here, replace yay if you use a different aur package manager):
74+
```sh title="Terminal"
75+
yay -Sy aeternum
76+
```
77+
78+
!!! info
79+
For every other linux distribution, you'll have to check if your package manager has the `aeternum` package.
80+
81+
#### Portable
82+
Start of by downloading the latest [aeternum-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu.tar.gz](https://github.com/cloudy-org/aeternum/releases/download/v0.1.2-beta.1/aeternum-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu.tar.gz).
83+
84+
- **Extract the contents.**
85+
You can either use your file manager or your terminal with the command:
86+
```sh title="Terminal"
87+
