Create VM with "oracle linux 9.6" as "Operating System", the "Emulated Machine" generated is "pc-i440fx-rhel7.6.0", when I try to change firmware to "UEFI" and save, I got the error message: Failed to change firmware The problem doesn't exist for all other oracle linux versions, as the "Emulated Machine" generated is pc-q35-rhel9.6.0. |

This indicates you miss some essential packages which you need to install from your distro package manager. I can't tell you how they are called as you didn't include on what OS you run Cockpit. |

seems the problem is not with cockpit. When using "virt-install --name test1 --memory 1024 --vcpus 1 --os-variant=ol9.6 --disk path=/vmdata1,size=20,bus=scsi --print-xml", the output XML shows incorrect machine type. hvm |
