I was surprised to see your project as there are already a lot of SMS tools out there, especially RapidSMS - https://github.com/rapidsms/rapidsms & http://www.rapidsms.org/
RapidSMS is all done in Python, but I would suggest you look into sharing resources, rather than duplicating them!
