Strange SQL result with API

Hello,
I'm working on FS extension and now I'm playing with USRSPC... I found something strange on some sql results.
So, if I query with db2 extension It returns me:

which are more or less the same characters I see on ACS, although that would be inaccurate since the USRSPC has a thousand characters and there are empty characters between words (and you can see that clearly from the binary data)...

However, when I use the IBM i runSQL function, it seems to truncate the result. I also see this behavior in debug mode.

as you can see come ti chiami is missing...

Any idea?

@buzzia2001 what do you see in the Code for i output after that query has run ? (to check what's the db2 CLI output)

The *USRSPC table functions return a CLOB(16MB) and a BLOB(16MB) resultset.
The *DTAARA table functions return a 2000 VARCHAR(2000) and a VARBINARY(2000) resultset.
Likely these are too long for the buffer length declared for the interfaces being used in VS Code.
Try specify just the columns you need and if possible use SUBSTR (or LEFT()) functions to reduce the size to what you actually need.

@bobcozzi the strang thing is that also binary data is BLOB(16M) but I'm able to see anything...

The User Space's DATA column is CLOB so it is returned in the job characterset. Then (likely) translated during the "download" into the VS Code for i environment to PC ASCII (probably UTF-8).
The User Spaces' DATA_BINARY column is BLOB, so it is returned as binary data (not translated/raw). So any characters in it that are interpreted by the Viewer as non-character text may lead to a perceived corrupted output/result in the viewer.
Having said that, where and how is the "this.usrspc" variable defined? Is it a "Buffer" or just a simply variable? If it is a Buffer, is it defined large enough to handle the load?

Likely the rowSet no just one row. So an array, assuming more than one User Space is returned. If you are limiting it, then yes, it would be just that one resultSet row. this.usrspc[0] likely?

Yes, it's limited by the query as you can see is specified the name and the library. In this way I've always back only one row...

Ok, an update, I've copied some dummy chars inside my userspace and as we can see now it's returning me the entire string that is longer than before (I've put xx at the end to be sure)...

In this way I'm also able to exclude a problem of datatype... maybe the RunSQL function make some strange trims...

My theory is that it's something to do with the first column, USER_SPACE_LIBRARY. What is the datatype of it? Seems like it is two bytes short.
