Universal Links on iOS not working with Codemagic builds

iOS (Swift, Objective-C)

Steps to reproduce

1. Configured associated domains for universal link support on client and server
2. Successfully tested universal links locally when building with Xcode
3. Successfully tested universal links in TestFlight app when uploading manually from Xcode
4. Failed to test universal links in TestFlight app when building with Codemagic

Expected results

Universal links also work when building with Codemagic

Actual results

Universal links do not work when building with Codemagic

Hi @nataschafadeeva if associated domain capability has been added and the domains have been placed correctly, then let's check the device logs to see if you are getting any error messages there when testing universal links.

@nataschafadeeva is currently on vacation, so I'll take over the discussion for now.

The error in point 4 actually means that when the UniversalLink is called up, the process is executed correctly, except for the app itself. The AppStore is called up instead of the app, even if the app is installed. This only happens if the app was created by Codemagic. If the app is created with Xcode and installed on the iPhone, the app will be called. Our assumption is that we may have to set unknown flags in the xcode-build on Codemagic in order to fully activate UniversalLinks.

Following your advice I tracked the UniversalLink-Call with both app builds one by Codemagic and other by Xcode. There is one error message for the app build by Codemagic:

Maybe this can be the point? Therefore there is maybe a delta building the app by local Xcode and the build process on codemagic?

@mofd, let's start with 2 changes:

1. Build your project on its workspace rather than project, so you need to change the build script to xcode-project build-ipa --workspace $XCODE_WORKSPACE
2. Let's also try code signing identities instead of providing your profile this way. Well, cannot say if it has something to do with it but worth checking. What you need to do is just take your distribution certificate and provisioning profile, then add it in the teams settings under code signing identities.
