Steps to reproduce

I'm trying to make a iOS flutter build, first time using CodeMagic, setup was fine, but it's not even getting to the 'git clone' phase.
So in the Fetching app sources step, i just get:

Build failed :|
Something went wrong

As you see, there are no previous commands or anything, so i don't have a clue on where to start debugging.

Can anyone advise?

Can you please try reviewing your integrations? It seems related to the credentials used for authorization.
For the best integration with the Git provider, it’s usually recommended to connect your GitLab repositories using the repository integration built in to Codemagic i.e., go to Teams > Team Name > General settings > Team Integrations > Gitlab and connect your Gitlab account. Afterwards, you can then follow below steps:

1. Click Add application in the top right corner of the Applications page.
2. If you are an admin of a team in Codemagic, you’ll be asked to Select a team. You can only add the application to a team that has billing enabled. If you don’t own any teams, this step is skipped and the application will be added to your personal account.
3. Select GitLab as the Git provider and click Next: Authorize integration. A new window appears for you to authorize Codemagic. Confirm the authorization by clicking Authorize. If you have already authorized GitLab, click Next: Select repository instead.
4. Set up the application by selecting the repository from the dropdown menu and specifying the project type. Click Finish: Add application.

Hi @dam-ease, thanks for getting back so quickly!

I'd like to avoid giving Codemagic authorisation to my entire Gitlab account and all the repositories I have access to. The way it's set up right now is with a repository-specific access token, which seemed to work all the way up until the build step (it was successful in setting up the app and pulling branch/tag names etc).

Is it possible to scope the access to the repository in a similar way?

Alright, got your case now.
This should work with repository-specific access as well. Can you please try updating your password? I mean here, in your app settings > Repository Settings > Repository access settings > Change settings.

I've updated the password as per your instructions, but i'm faced with the same error:

I ended up creating an additional GL account, only having access to this specific repo and using normal username/password auth for that.

It's a bit disappointing since it'll take up another seat and I can't control key expiry dates etc.

Sorry for the inconvenience. The workaround does seem like a bit of extra effort. If this setup works for now, you can of course continue with it, but from the checks so far on our end, it's possible that the earlier issue was just a one-time glitch when adding the Codemagic app at the time.
Would you be open to disconnecting the GitLab integration and then adding the application again as you did previously to see if the same issue occurs? If it does, we’ll also be able to investigate further on our end.
Also, if the issue recurs, kindly share where/how you retrieve the username and password from in GitLab used in the https authorisation.
