Description
Feedback from course leader (TWF):
- Ran out of time to deliver all content, so had to choose between material on strings (using stringr) and dates (using lubridate). Previous course leaders said they had done the same.
- Participants need to be able to use Rmarkdown notebooks to make full use of the provided materials. This isn't immediately obvious in the materials. Leaders need to allow enough time to show participants the basics of Rmarkdown, e.g. how to insert code chunks and how to knit or publish to html.
- Could consider moving to Quarto instead of Rmarkdown.
- Could consider developing a variant of this course using data.table (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/data.table/vignettes/datatable-intro.html) instead of the tidyverse.
Feedback from one of course helpers:
- Your lecture is well-structured with good responses between audience. You explained the code and the theory in a clear and accessible way, and the audience can comprehend and employ the code in the practice.
- Suggestion on recruitment: the advertisement can provide a brief overview of the topic covered in the series, as well as the associated R packages and code. The name "Working with Data in R" does not clearly convey the scope or structure of the course. [TWF: maybe should include "tidy" in course name?]
