v1 Roadmap

Now that we have merged #1457 and released v0.3.11, we are close to releasing v0.4, hopefully within a month. We then plan to release v1 by the end of August (2025). This document contains an outline of the biggest things we plan to accomplish for those releases.

v0.4 (June 2025)

We have already completed the vast majority of the features for v0.4, with just a few remaining:

• Add support for GopherJS on web to decrease load times (Add support for GopherJS on web #974) (also Reduce binary sizes of yaegicore apps #1473)
• Implement video support on web and mobile (Add multimedia support (audio and video playback and capture) #516)
• Add a terminal widget (terminal emulator widget #959)
• Write more docs pages and add more tutorials
• Fix some urgent and high priority bugs

Starting with v0.4, Cogent Core should be fully performant on web for both loading and runtime. With that, we plan to start writing more blog posts to document our progress on Cogent Core, in addition to posting new videos.

v1 (August 2025)

• Clean up and stabilize the API
• Implement translation support for internationalization (Add some kind of text language translation facility. #9)
• Write docs pages for all relevant features of Cogent Core, and add a comprehensive set of tutorials
• Complete more apps with Cogent Core, such as Cogent Canvas and Cogent Mail
• Fix all urgent and high priority bugs

This is getting really potent .

the translation and locale support is interesting . There is an ICU based system happening over here that I have been playing with.

I like that it’s an open standard and flexible to plurals , and UOM for scientific apps.
