Possibility to render content of _index.md files for menu items (single-level and multi-level)

Hello,

In the current implementation of the style, the multilevel menus do not have their _index.md content rendered in the doc. Only the subsequent index.md are rendered as cards. I would to render both the content of the _index.md and the cards bellow. What is the easiest way to do it ?

My main use case is doxygen documentation. The class, and namespace descriptions each have a top level _index.md that includes a tree describing the classes and namespaces that I would like to show.
